Acer Palmatum 'Koto No Ito'

Harp Strings Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum ‘Koto No Ito’ (meaning “harp strings”) is a distinctive Japanese maple prized for its extremely narrow, threadlike leaves, giving the tree a light, airy texture. Spring foliage emerges bright green and remains fresh and refined through summer.
In fall, the foliage turns golden yellow with soft orange highlights, providing gentle but eye-catching autumn color. The habit is upright and vase-shaped, with an open canopy that adds movement and elegance without heaviness.
‘Koto No Ito’ prefers partial shade, especially in warmer climates, and grows best in well-drained, evenly moist soil. It is valued primarily for its unique foliage texture and graceful form.
